Indoor Air Quality Investigation—Office Building at a Power Generation Station

Sensitive Human Resources concerns were addressed in a timely and conscientious manner, resulting in improved employee relations for the customer.

A regional power generation and transmission company requested Landmark to evaluate indoor air quality after several complaints regarding poor indoor air quality (IAQ) in an employee training facility were reported.  Building occupants reported respiratory illness and infection.  Our Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) conducted detailed evaluations of the facilities for water intrusion and microbial reservoirs, building heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Indoor and outdoor sampling was conducted to determine the species and concentrations of airborne fungi.  Our report was used to present the information to the affected employees, the local Safety Department, and treating physicians.  The report included alternative solutions for improving IAQ, including a discussion on remediation protocols and specifications to reduce, eliminate, and control microbial contamination.
